The Jets were a middling team last season, finishing in a Wild Card spot and, unfortunately, drawing the Vegas Golden Knights in round 1. They didn't exactly get any better this season - at least not on paper - so it's really anyone's guess what this season will hold for the Central Division club.
At any rate, the wheels never stop turning and if the Jets are not embarking upon a rebuild, they needed to ensure that they're icing the best roster possible. The show must go on, as they say, and on Saturday, the Jets took care of an important piece of business, signing 25-year-old Logan Stanley to a one-year, one-way deal worth $1 million.
The deal leaves the Winnipeg Jets with just one more restricted free agent to cross off the list, fellow defenseman Declan Chisholm.
After being selected by the Jets in the 1st round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft (18th overall), Stanley did not make his NHL debut until the 2020-21 season. The hulking 6-foot-7 defenseman played in just 19 games with the Jets last season as he dealt with a couple of separate injuries. He had one goal and two assists.
