Arizona Coyotes have reportedly found a potential new home
The Arizona Coyotes have been the brunt of most NHL jokes for the past few years. Fans across the league have called for the relocation of the franchise, but ownership and the league have been resistant. Gary Bettman has been insistent that the Arizona market could be one of the top markets in the league.
It now seems that the Coyotes may have finally found a new home. According to John Gambadoro the Coyotes are looking at purchasing a site for a new home.
#Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo has put in a letter of intent to purchase 41 acres in Mesa, Arizona for the teams new arena.
Meruelo is also still looking into other possible sites including Mesa, Phoenix, and Scottsdale.
Meruelo's goal is to have multiple sites under contract so there are options. This is to have a plan in place by the first quarter of 2024, so a target date is hit for a new arena's completion in time for the start of the 2026-27 season.
With a deadline of January likely in place for a plan to be finalized it appears that the Coyotes are well on their way to securing their future in Arizona.
