The Vancouver Canucks are facing a tough postseason challenge after losing goalie Thatcher Demko to a lower-body injury in Game One against Nashville. Recent updates have sparked concern among fans, as it appears Demko might miss the remainder of the playoffs, casting a shadow over the team's championship aspirations.

The latest on Demko's condition comes from Canucks reporter Irfaan Gaffar, who delivered the disheartening news today. This update has left the Canucks faithful uneasy, knowing backup Casey DeSmith will have big skates to fill, stepping in for their star goaltender.
There is belief that even if the Canucks make the Western Conference final, it would be a stretch for Thatcher Demko to play

Adding a twist to the tale, NHL insider Rick Dhaliwal reported that there's still hope. According to Dhaliwal, Demko could potentially return by the later stages of the second round. This possibility offers a glimmer of hope to the team and its supporters.
"A lot of this is still wait-and-see. He won't play in the Nashville series, but if they get to round two, Don, some feel he can play late in round two. People ask if Demko needs surgery. I'm not hearing he needs surgery. A lot of reports out there about the timeframe [say], 'Oh, it's serious, it's a serious injury, he could be out months and months' I'm not hearing that."
As the Canucks progress without their top netminder, they'll rely heavily on DeSmith. The team's success may now hinge on a playoff miracle, reminiscent of a Cinderella story, with DeSmith stepping up in a critical moment. For the Canucks and their fans, the hope is that this underdog narrative takes shape just when it matters most.
