Utah Hockey Club hilariously put Gary Bettman in an uncomfortable situation during home opener

Overall, it was an incredible moment for the franchise, who already have thousands of adoring fans. Sure, the team may not have the best arena in the world, but the fans still show up regardless. Hockey is officially in the state of Utah and there is no denying just how happy the populace is. As for Gary Bettman, he seems to be enjoying the pleasures of having a new franchise around.

In fact, according to Ryan Smith on the Spittin Chiclets podcast, Bettman was sitting on the glass for the game. Smith comes from basketball where VIPs sit courtside. However, in the NHL, VIPs are in boxes above the game. Having said that, Smith was shocked when Bettman told him that he never sits on the glass.

Regardless, Bettman endured the game from the glass where the common folk are. In the end, Bettman enjoyed himself and was ecstatic for Smith when the Utah HC scored its first goal in the history of the franchise. It was an amazing moment that fans will never forget.

If this Utah franchise is a success, it will be a great look for the NHL. They want to see success everywhere, and that includes the American South West. If Utah is successful, it will just go to show that the league probably should have left Arizona ages ago.
