Tristan Jarry of the Pittsburgh Penguins has been off to a horrific start to the season as he has allowed a whopping 12 goals on 73 shots.

His goals-against average was over 5 per game and his save percentage was well below 90 percent. This is simply unacceptable, especially if you are going to be a starter in the National Hockey League. These stats may have been okay and acceptable in the 80s, but times have changed and goalies are held to a much higher standard.

As a result of his poor play, Jarry has been significantly demoted. According to a new report from the Penguins, Alex Nedeljkovic will be the starter tonight against the Calgary Flames. Meanwhile, Joel Blomqvist will be the backup. This means Jarry is scratched from the lineup completely.

Now, the next piece of the puzzle will be whether or not this officially spells the end of Jarry in Pittsburgh. He has not been a good goaltender for them and there have been rumors that they would like to move on. However, that might be a lot easier said than done right now.

Considering how poorly Jarry has play, he might not actually elicit a huge return. Moreover, there is no telling whether or not Nedeljkovic and Blomqvist are going to be any good. No matter what, it remains clear that the Penguins are in a bad situation when it comes to goaltending.
