In a take that's turning heads and raising eyebrows, NHL media figure and ex-player Paul Bissonnette recently dropped a bombshell on the Spittin' Chicklets podcast.

When pressed on who he sees as the Eastern Conference's toughest team, Bissonnette went out on a limb and picked the Toronto Maple Leafs. Yes, you read that rightthe Leafs, a team not traditionally synonymous with grit or physical play, are according to Bissonnette, tougher than the likes of the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers.

Are the Leafs a tougher team than the Panthers?? 💪🤔

Bissonnette pondered aloud, suggesting that the Maple Leafs have more players willing to drop the gloves than any other team in their conference. This statement has many, myself included, scratching their heads in disbelief.

But toughness in hockey extends beyond the willingness to engage in fisticuffs. It's about being relentless on the forecheck, delivering punishing hits, and dominating the front of the netattributes that define a team's resilience and determination through sixty minutes of play.
