Sad news to report in the NHL today as it was revealed that former Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, and New York Rangers star Pete Conacher passed away at the age of 92.

The news was revealed by former Leafs broadcaster, Joe Bowen, who was a legend. Conacher and Bowen were friends, so you can imagine Bowen had a touching tribute for him.

"So very sad to learn this day that we have lost Pete Conacher. The former Leaf,Black Hawk and Ranger, won the 1959 World Hockey Championship with the Belleville McFarlands. A wonderful man who gave so freely of his time for good causes will be sorely missed. RIP my friend!!!"

Conacher played in a total of 229 NHL games and was able to score a total of 86 points. Furthermore, in 1959, he won the World Hockey Championship as a member of the Belleville McFarlands.

Following the news of his passing, the Maple Leafs franchise took to social media to say a few kind words.

"We are saddened to learn of the passing of Leafs alumnus Pete Conacher.

Pete, the son of Charlie Conacher, played 229 games in the NHL and was also a former President of the Ontario chapter of Special Olympics Canada. Our thoughts and condolences are with his friends and family at this time."

Conacher played just one season with the Maple Leafs where he got to play five games. However, that brief contribution left a lasting impacting on the franchise and the hockey world.

Our heart goes out to Conacher's family during this very difficult time. RIP Pete Conacher.
