Mitch Marner Makes Franchise History As He Beats Record Set More Then 45-Years Ago
Mitch Marner has claimed the top spot, at least for the moment.
During Sunday night's game at Scotiabank Arena against the Detroit Red Wings, Marner made Maple Leafs history by becoming the fastest player to reach the 600-point milestone. Considering the storied names in Maple Leafs history, this achievement stands as a monumental accomplishment for Marner.
Witness the play that secured point #600:
However, Marner's grip on this record might be short-lived. As Chris Cuthbert highlighted in the Sunday night broadcast, Marner's teammate Auston Matthews is only 10 points away from reaching the 600-point mark himself. With just 520 games under his belt, Matthews is poised to surpass Marner's record in no time.
