Patrick Kane Exits Game Due to Serious Lower-Body Injury
The Detroit Red Wings faced a setback as they lost one of their key forwards early in Sunday night's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Star forward Patrick Kane took a hit from Maple Leafs forward Pontus Holmberg, and it had immediate consequences. The first hit occurred along the boards, and although not the most physical, Kane went into the boards at an awkward angle, visibly discomforted.
The second hit, more of a collision with skates tangled, saw Kane dumped into the boards behind the Maple Leafs net. Despite making his way back to the Red Wings bench initially, Kane quickly headed down the tunnel accompanied by a trainer, heading to the Red Wings locker room.
Confirmation arrived from the Red Wings, stating that Kane is indeed injured with a lower-body injury. Additionally, the team confirmed that Kane would not be returning for the remainder of the game.
