Kyle Dubas, the Pittsburgh Penguins general manager, is known for tapping into his Toronto Maple Leafs connections, and rumors are swirling that he might again look north to fill a key position.

With the recent dismissal of assistant coach Todd Reirdan and growing uncertainty around head coach Mike Sullivan's future, speculation is mounting about who might next helm the Penguins.

The Penguins have parted ways with Associate Coach Todd Reirden, it was announced today by President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kyle Dubas. Reirden is relieved of his duties immediately.

Bruce Garrioch of Post Media has hinted that Sheldon Keefe, current head coach of the Maple Leafs, could be on Dubas's radar if he becomes available.

"We'll find out Thursday if the Leafs will go the distance and if it doesn't, then coach Sheldon Keefe likely will be fired. If that happens, the sense is Berube will be a top candidate for the Toronto job and Pittsburgh GM Kyle Dubas may allow Sullivan to move to New Jersey so Keefe can be hired." - Bruce Garrioch

The Penguins are evidently preparing for major changes, and if Keefe's tenure in Toronto ends, it might open the door for a significant reunion in Pittsburgh. This move would be a major shakeup, aligning with Dubas's strategy of bringing familiar faces into the fold.
