Senators unveil their biggest signing of the offseason
The Ottawa Senators are a team who have been struggling over the past few years, however, they do have a bright spot coming down the pipeline.
During this year's NHL Draft, the Senators took Carter Yakemchuk of the Calgary Hitmen with the seventh overall pick. The offensive defenceman scored 71 points in 66 games last season and he was a joy to watch.
Yesterday, it was announced that Yakemchuk has officially been signed by the team. GM Steve Staios released a statement on the matter, noting just how excited the team is about all of this.
«Carter has a bright future ahead of him,» Staios said. «He's an offensively gifted defenceman who's competitive and who has an NHL-ready shot. With continued development, we expect him to become a key member of our defence corps for many years to come.»
