Igor Shesterkin is one of the best goaltenders in the entire NHL and soon enough, he is going to be paid like it.

This is a year or two down the line, however, it was recently revealed that Shesterkin wants $12 million per year. Moreover, he would probably want that over the course of an 8-year term. Whether or not the New York Rangers are willing to pay that, remains to be seen. Of course, Shesterkin is eager to stay in New York. That said, he recently made some comments that may worry Rangers fans.

Essentially, Shesterkin is taking a wait and see approach. He wants to stay in New York, but he knows hockey is a business and that anything can happen. That "anything" is what will surely make Rangers fans pause for a bit.

"I love the organization. I love the team. I love the fans. So, of course, it would be great to stay here, but you never know what can happen."

Shesterkin is beloved in New York and it would be a real shame if the Rangers failed to get a deal done. However, considering where the team is at right now, it is more likely than not that they do their best to retain him. After all, they don't want a Jeremy Swayman situation.

Do you believe Shesterkin will stay with the Rangers? Let us know in the poll down below and stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
