Igor Shesterkin's alleged salary demand is absolutely outrageous

Igor Shesterkin is one of the best goaltenders in the entire NHL, and fans have been eager to see what he can do with the New York Rangers this season.

Soon, he will be negotiating a new contract, and many are eager to see what he will make. After all, Jeremy Swayman is currently looking for an eight-year deal worth $10 million per season. This could ultimately set the market for other goalies like Shesterkin, who very much want to get paid as much as possible.

According to Mollie Walker of the New York Post, Shesterkin is looking for big bucks, and much bigger than Swayman. In her report, she revealed that Shesterkin wants upwards of $12 million per year.

Of course, this would make him the highest-paid goalie in the entire NHL. Depending on the term, it could also make him the highest-paid goalie in the entire history of the National Hockey League. This would put lots of pressure on him to perform and get the Rangers a Stanley Cup.

Having said that, the Rangers are a team that is on the rise, and every year, they show that they have potential. If Shesterkin somehow does get them that cup, any sort of salary would then be justifiable.
