NJ Devils Head Coach Unveils Star Defenseman Won't Return This Season
The New Jersey Devils had high hopes for this season after a strong performance last year, but things haven't gone as planned. After reaching the second round of the playoffs last season, they're now struggling to secure a Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
Currently trailing behind the Washington Capitals, New York Islanders, and Detroit Red Wings, the Devils are in a tough spot in the standings. Coach Travis Green acknowledged the challenges ahead, especially with key player Dougie Hamilton sidelined.
Interim head coach Travis Green says "we probably won't see Dougie (Hamilton)" return this season and there's a "chance" that Nathan Bastian might be able to play. Hamilton, a significant offseason addition, has been out of action since November 28th. Despite hopes for a return, it seems unlikely at this point. In his 20 games this season, Hamilton contributed five goals and 11 assists, making his absence a significant blow to the team's playoff aspirations.
