Patrik Laine was injured by a knee-on-knee hit from Cédric Paré earlier tonight during a preseason game between the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs. Arber Xhekaj took matters into his own hands.

Xhekaj was absolutely livid with Pare and chased him around the ice looking to make an example out of what he just did. He grabbed him by the jersey and punched him numerous times, particularly in the back of the head. It was a dangerous move especially since Pare was not a willing participant in the battle.

Many years ago, Todd Bertuzz did something similar to Steve Moore, however, the outcome was much more severe. Bertuzzi was hit with a massive suspension and Moore was never the same after what took place. As for Xhekaj, he went to the penalty box and some fans believe he deserves a suspension.
Meanwhile, Laine is in bad shape and was livid while going back to the locker room. He even threw his gloves and helmet in anger. At this time, there is no update on his status or whether or not he will be able to return to the team anytime soon. Based on photos from social media, this injury looks pretty dang awful.
Do you believe that Xhekaj should be suspended for his actions here? Let us know in the poll down below and stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite players and teams.
