The Hurricanes terminate Alexander Pashin's contract mid playoff run
In the midst of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Carolina Hurricanes have made the decision to terminate the contract of Russian forward Alexander Pashin.
The #Canes have placed 2020 seventh round draft pick Alexander Pashin on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination.
The 21-year-old played the entire 2023-24 season in the KHL.
Pashin, originally a gamble in the late rounds of the draft, made his North American debut with the Chicago Wolves during the 2022-23 season. Following the dissolution of the Hurricanes' partnership with the Wolves, Pashin returned to Russia, signing with Spartak Moskova in the KHL.
The forward has recently inked an extension with Spartak, opting to continue his career in his native Russia.
As for Pashin's NHL prospects, they now appear uncertain. While only time will reveal his path in professional hockey, the likelihood of a return to the NHL seems increasingly doubtful.
