Amidst trade rumors, general manager Don Waddell of the Carolina Hurricanes gave a message to Martin Necas' father during the team's end-of-season press conference.

This year, the Hurricanes were eliminated by the New York Rangers in the second round of the playoffs.

Changes are inevitable with all the conjecture, especially around forward Martin Necas. Waddell sent a message to his farther in response to a query regarding the rumored Necas deal.

Waddell finishing his Necas trade rumor answer with "tell martin's dad hi for me" is an all timer.

With so many larger names to worry about for the Hurricanes and little chance of signing an extension, Necas, 25, has been said to be heading out the door. This past season, he totaled 53 points in 77 games with 24 goals and 29 assists.

Waddell may have been joking when he responded to rumors of a sign-and-trade, but it's also possible that the general manager knew he wouldn't be going back to Carolina. Necas is a restricted free agent and would probably go to arbitration, so the sign and trade would make the most sense.

With so much work ahead of them, it's obvious that the Hurricanes' forward group will not look the same next season.
