Johnny Gaudreau played numerous seasons with the Calgary Flames and for many years he was their most beloved star.

Unfortunately, he and his brother Matthew passed away back on August 20th after a horrific car accident claimed their lives. Since that time, numerous tributes have been conducted in the memory of the two young men. The Columbus Blue Jackets will be holding a huge tribute in just a few days against the Florida Panthers. Meanwhile, the Calgary Flames delivered a spectacular tribute last night during their home opener.

Before taking on the Philadelphia Flyers, the Flames opened up the game with an on-ice ceremony in which they honored Gaudreau. From there, they also played an amazing video filled with some of his biggest highlights from when he was with the franchise.

In the end, the Flames were able to honor Gaudreau with not just a tribute, but a win as well. They took down the Flyers by a score of 6-3 and it was a nice demonstration of what this team can do offensively. Only time will tell whether or not this team can go to the playoffs.

Our heart continues to go out to the Gaudreau family during this very difficult time. We cannot imagine all of the pain that they must be feeling right now. The entire hockey world is on their side and has their backs.
