Trevor Zegras, a forward for the Anaheim Ducks, has indicated that he might like to leave Southern California before the 202425 season begins.
Baugh said that the Philadelphia Flyers, another team in the Metropolitan Division, were somewhat interested in purchasing Trevor Zegras. However, the return that Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek is looking for is quite costly.
Zegras played in just 31 games due to injuries in the 202324 season, finishing with 15 points (six goals, nine assists), 30 penalty minutes, and a minus-1 rating. In late December, Zegras made a spectacular comeback, scoring a "Michigan" goal in a game against the Seattle Kraken, despite still having to cope with ailments.
Being able to play for the NHL team closest to one's home would be an incredible opportunity for any player in the league, especially for the 23-year-old Bedford, New York native who was raised just over an hour north of Manhattan. His $5.75 million salary over the next two seasons is very reasonable for clubs to add. One such team is the New York Rangers, who have $12.8 million in budget space right now and will probably open up more in the near future if they can shed a contract or two.
It will be fascinating to see whether trade discussions involving the Zegras pick up steam as the NHL Entry Draft and free agency draw near. It makes sense that there is a lot of interest in him and that the price to buy him is relatively expensive because players of his caliber and age don't come up for sale very often.
