The Teotihuacan Priests were playing the Olmec Stone Heads in the top division of Mexico when Santiago Sierra, 36, slewfooted his opponent, Brandon Mendez, in the neutral zone when he didn't have the puck.
Mendez lay hurting on the ice for a considerable amount of time as his teammates pursued Sierra in an attempt to exact revenge. Many were curious about what would happen, and it seems that Santiago Sierra would be disciplined by the Mexico Ice Hockey Federation and the Liga Mexicana Elite de Hockey.
Santiago Sierra's 2024 season with the Teotihuacan Priests has come to an end as a result of a one year suspension from the Liga Mexicana Elite de Hockey, as reported by Puck Empire.
Sierra, who is playing in his first professional season since the 201920 campaign, which he also played with Teotihuacan, had six points (five goals, one assist) in five games this year with the Priests.
After numerous viewings of the video, the Liga Mexicana Elite de Hockey made the correct choice in suspending Sierra for a year. We'll have to wait and see if Sierra, who turns 37 on the day his suspension ends, decides to resume his professional career with the Priests.
