Canada and the United States supplied the entertaining finish to the 4 Nations Face-Off in Boston. The game went into the overtime period, and Connor McDavid scored the deciding goal at 8:18, propelling Canada to a dramatic 3-2 victory.
McDavid earned the game's MVP award, and tournament MVP honors went to Nathan MacKinnon. Led by team captain Sidney Crosby, the team celebrated in grand fashion, lifting the trophy on the ice and in the dressing room.
The 4 Nations face-off replaced the All-Star break in the NHL, bringing the U.S., Canada, Finland, and Sweden into a high-riding round-robin tournament.
It was created to resemble the last two Winter Games' played by the players, so the public could at last see a «best-on-best» event.

Insider Jeff Marek credited the pressure to introduce the tournament to Crosby, determined to provide the public with the super matchups they hadn't seen.

The NHL has competed in five Winter Games, only to return in 2022 before the COVID-19 pandemic ruined the party. Through the whole ordeal, Crosby remained an advocate for elite-level international hockey.
Crosby, who's a huge fan of world play, expressed he's ready to taste the 2026 Olympics, even at the tender age of 38.
