Ron MacLean humiliated the Edmonton Oilers organization by putting their jersey on the floor during last night's Game 4 between the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars, which was broadcast live on television.

Many Canadians used to think of Ron MacLean as a part of their Saturday nights. Before Cherry's on-air remark ruined his career, he and Don Cherry were a staple of many people's Saturday habit as members of the HNIC panel. Many believed that, like Cherry had done for him previously, MacLean would fall on the sword with his friend.

After then, opinions of MacLean have changed. Over time, a number of incidents have prompted supporters to demand MacLean's resignation. Having been involved in the sport for more than 40 years, MacLean is well-versed in most aspects, including unwritten regulations.

Though most supporters are aware that it is improper to walk on a team's logo when in a locker room. Some people hold these unwritten standards very dear, while others think they shouldn't be observed. That was clear from Kevin Bieksa last night.

After finishing a segment, MacLean starts to place the Edmonton Oilers jersey he is holding directly on the ground. Sitting next to him at the moment, Bieksa appears astonished by the choice right away. With a straight face, Bieksa tells MacLean, "You can't just throw a jersey on the floor."

There is a voice on the broadcast panel saying, "that's a fine".

Fans immediately began to react exactly how you might think, and as usual, people were unhappy with MacLean and his decision.

So the question remains, is this reaction appropriate or are fans just overreacting at the actions of someone they dislike?
