Matvei Michkov's decision to leave the KHL at the end of this season and join the Flyers for the 20242025 season has been the subject of months of discussion. However, late on Sunday morning, the question of whether or not he would even make it to training camp in Philadelphia was resolved:
Michkov, who spent the previous three seasons playing for both Sochi HC and St. Peterburg SKA, will be a welcomed addition to the Flyers, who appear to be in the midst of a rebuild. Although general manager Daniel Briere expressed uncertainty earlier this summer regarding Michkov's potential return to North America, it now seems as though the efforts to bring him over have concluded.
It should be mentioned that Michkov is now represented by CAA management. While this is unknown and very speculative, it may have played a significant role in the agreement to bring the nineteen-year-old US as soon as possible.
