Former NHLer Mike Meeker dead at 66
Sad news has been reported in the hockey world today as it was revealed that former Pittsburgh Penguins player Mike Meeker has died at the age of 66.
Meeker was drafted 25th overall by the Penguins in 1978 and played four games with the franchise. He got to play in leagues like the OHL, NCAA, and even the AHL. However, his biggest contributions to the game were off the ice as he was a mentor and a coach in his community.
His death was announced by NHL Alumni on Twitter, where the league offered some nice words to Meeker's family.
"We send our deepest condolences to Mike's family, friends, and former teammates during this time."
Our heart goes out to Meeker's family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. His legacy will live on in the hockey community, where he contributed so much through his coaching and passion.
