Matthew Tkachuk and the Florida Panthers are having the Summer of their lives as they won their first-ever Stanley Cup and did so against the Edmonton Oilers.

Overall, it was not an easy series for the Panthers who at one point, were up 3-0. They subsequently went on to lose the next three games which set them up for one of the worst choke jobs in NHL history. However, in Game 7, they came through with a massive performance that helped them cross over the finish line with the Cup in their hands.
Following the win, Tkachuk famously took a shot at the Edmonton Oilers, and even shouted out the fans of his former team, the Calgary Flames. Some felt that this was an example of kicking your opponent when they are already down. However, for Tkachuk, there was a lot of history and motivation behind it.
During an episode of the Cam & Strick Podcast, Tkachuk explained his decision to go after the Edmonton Oilers. At the end of the day, it all has to do with his time in Calgary with the Flames and how the battle of Alberta is still near and dear to his heart. Although some may find his comments distasteful, it is pretty clear that he does not care. He is speaking his mind, and keeping rivalries alive. As a hockey fan, you have to respect that kind of attitude.
