Only a few days after the Philadelphia Flyers bought out his contract, 35-year-old Cam Atkinson was signed by Tampa Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois.

General Manager Julien BriseBois of the Tampa Bay Lightning has chosen to take a chance on an experienced player by giving veteran Cam Atkinson a one-year contract. Atksinson was just cut loose by the Philadelphia Flyers with one year remaining on his contract.

"NEWS: LetsGoFlyers to buyout Cam Atkinson. Had 1 year left at $5.875M
Buyout cap hit, per

@PuckPedia:
2024/25: $2,358,333
2025/26: $1,758,333"

Atkinson's freshly inked deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning pays him considerably less than his old one, coming in at $900,000 for the 2024-25 season, but the money is likely secondary to Atkinson at this point. He just wants a chance to prove he can still contribute.

"Here comes Cam!

We have signed free agent forward Cam Atkinson to a one-year contract worth an AAV of $900,000."

Selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 6th round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, before being traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in a trade for Jakub Voracek in 2021.

"GoBolts have signed veteran forward Cam Atkinson to a one-year deal, $900K. Before his season with the Flyers, Atkinson was one of the leaders of the Columbus Blue Jackets for a decade."

The Lightning have already made major changes in the summer, with months left to go before the 2024-25 season gets underway.
