Toronto Maple Leafs get bigger and meaner, sign 6'3 defender with 200+ hits
Brad Treliving has made it a priority to add a big and tough puck moving defenders. Size and strength is something that has been lacking on the Leafs backend since the departure of Like Schenn. Today Treliving found a solution to that problem.
Today the Leafs announced they've turned to free agent market to add some depth to the Leafs bottom pairing. The Leafs announced today that they have signed 24-year-old defender Simon Benoit.
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the hockey club has signed defenceman Simon Benoit to a one-year contract worth $775,000.
Benoit, 24, appeared in 78 games last season with the Anaheim Ducks. Benoit scored 3 goals and added 7 assists. Benoit who is 6'3 and 208 lbs. registered 216 hits last season for the Ducks.
Benoit also isn't afraid to get physical having fought both Tom Wilson and Mason Marchment last season.
