Patrick Kane breaks his silence and speaks about his plans after recovering from surgery
Earlier this off-season, Patrick Kane and his agent provided a timeline for when Kane would return. Initially it was thought that Kane would miss 4-6 months following hip surgery. 3 months have elapsed and Kane appears to be slightly ahead of schedule, according to reporter John Wawrow.
"I think we're at the point now where, I mean, could I come back early? Yeah, probably," Kane said
Kane told The Associated Press this week that he's currently around 90% healthy, but cautioned that he may allow himself some additional time to recover, so that he can return at "105%-110%", taking extra precautions. At 34 years old, that probably isn't the worst idea.
Kane had played his entire career in Chicago, winning 3 Cups with the Blackhawks before finally agreeing to wave his NMC last season for a trade to the New York Rangers. Obviously, Kane's season didn't end the way he would have liked. The Buffalo, NY native has a big decision ahead of him and also told AP that he plans to begin discussing a contract with teams some time after training camps commence.
Kane is believed to have been connected to a number of teams this summer, including Edmonton, New York, Colorado, Buffalo and even Toronto, though the last 2 are believed to be "dark horse" teams in the sweepstakes to secure his services.
