Today, Michael Andlauer, who recently purchased the Ottawa Senators, had a press conference addressing some major issues the team is facing. First, Shane Pinto got suspended for 41 games due to a gambling app incident. And just recently, the Senators lost their first-round pick in the next three years because of a messed-up Evgenii Dadonov trade to the Vegas Golden Knights back in 2021.
What's baffling is that Andlauer claims he had no idea about these investigations until he officially bought the team on September 21st. He said,
During the press conference, Andlauer also let go of Ottawa's general manager, Pierre Dorion, who was responsible for the Dadonov trade blunder. Dorion traded Dadonov to Vegas without disclosing a 10-team no-trade list that Dadonov had in his contract. Vegas only found out a year later when they tried to trade Dadonov to Anaheim, one of the restricted teams.
Andlauer didn't hold back on some criticism for the NHL either, particularly about how long these investigations dragged on. It's a mess, and it's not a great look for the league or the new Senators owner.
