Multiple fans involved in altercation in crowd, police forced to intervene
Hockey fans are extremely passionate about their hockey teams. Sometimes that passion boils over and ultimately ends up in a physical altercation. Add alcohol to the mix and tempers are far more likely to flare.
Last night the Edmonton Oilers faced off against the Vancouver Canucks in their first game of the season. The Canucks would go on to win the game 8 to 1, leaving Oilers fans embarrassed and upset. For all of those involved last night. Unfortunately, the most embarrassing part of the evening happened off the ice.
Late in the game, tempers flared in the crowd and multiple fans became involved in a physical altercation. This involved fans throwing drinks and ultimately throwing punches. The fight had to be broken up by police officers in attendance as security guards were unable to handle the melee.
There have been no reports of injuries or arrests at this time, but this is certainly an unfortunate incident. Hopefully fans can control their tempers for the rest of the season, but if Jack Campbell continues to perform the way he has, that might be difficult for Oilers fans.
