With the regular season now beginning in just a few weeks, the Minnesota Wild saw the need to re-sign one of their veteran forwards to a contract extension, retaining the service of Mats Zuccarello for two more years.
Earlier today, the Wild announced the extension of Zuccarello, signing him for two more seasons at just over $4M each season. Being an extension, this contract will kick in ahead of the 2024-25 season.
The 36 year old veteran has carved out a nice role for the Wild the last four seasons, with his offensive production being critical for a team that relies on depth scoring.
In 78 games last year, Zuccarello scored 22 goals and a total of 67 points, while adding 5 points in 6 playoff games. His offensive chemistry with his star line mate Kirill Kaprizov has been instrumental for Minnesota the last two seasons.
Is Mats Zuccarello really worth $4.125 million per season? Let us know what you think in the poll below!
