Major update on Matt Murray may cause the Toronto Maple Leafs salary cap complications
The Toronto Maple Leafs are scheudled for a salary arbitration hearings this Friday with goalie Ilya Samsonov. Samsonov was signed last summer and immediately took over the starting job. Samsonov and the Leafs are reportedly working on a new deal but have yet to come to terms.
Regardless of whether Samsonov signs or is awarded a new contract, the Leafs will need to create cap space. A buyout of Matt Murray was reportedly on the table. But now According to Elliotte Friedman, Matt Murray may not be buyout eligible due to injury.
