Early Monday, the Toronto Maple Leafs had the unfortunate duty to report the passing of Leafs prospect Rodion Amirov at the young age of 21, following a nearly 2-year battle with brain cancer. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only loss suffered by the Leafs on Monday, as the legendary Bob Baun also passed away at the age of 86.

Baun played two stints with the Maple Leafs with the first stint coming in 1956 through 1967. His second stint in Toronto spanned from 1970-1973. Baun was tough as nails and shockingly durable during his day, despite standing just 5'9 and a little over 180 lbs. Baun won 4 Stanley Cups with the Maple Leafs in 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1967 and was responsible for the game-winning goal in Game 6 back in 1964, which secured the Leafs' third consecutive Stanley Cup. He did so on a broken ankle, for which he had to be carted off the ice earlier that night.

The Lanigan, Saskatchewan native did leave Toronto in 1967-68, playing one season with the Oakland Seals, followed by 2 full seasons and a partial 3rd season with the Detroit Red Wings from 1968-1970 before being re-acquired by the Leafs.

Baun played 964 career regular season NHL games, scoring 37 goals and adding 187 assists for a total of 224 points. He also racked up 1,491 career penalty minutes. He was not afraid to get his hands dirty when necessary. Baun would also add 15 points in 96 playoff games, racking up another 165 penalty minutes in the postseason.

Our condolences go out to the Baun family and friends during this difficult time.
