Former player shares one of the most disturbing Mike Babcock comments to date
After Mike Babcock's resignation from his position as Head Coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets more stories have begun to surface about the coach. On one of the most recent episodes of Spittin' Chiclets, Ryan Whitney shared details of an incident that was reported to him by a former player.
Whit shared a story from a player who played for the Anaheim Ducks during preseason under Babcock.
The Story
One older player who hasn't quite cracked the NHL yet said that he was sitting on the bench in an empty arena taping his stick before the final preseason game in Anaheim.
Babcock came and sat next to him, said something along the lines of "this is pretty amazing isn't it?"
When the player agreed, Babcock continued; "soak it in, it's the last time you'll ever be on an NHL bench." Serial killer behavior.
To say that to a player just comes across as absolutely insane behavior. Something that no coach or person in power should ever say to anyone. But these comments continue to display the trend of unhinged behavior Babcock is known for.
As Paul Bissonnette said, good riddance.
