Former NHLer Passes Away
Warroad High School star and Minnesota hockey legend Henry Boucha has passed away at the age of 72.
Boucha was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the second round 16th overall during the 1971 NHL Draft. Boucha had a 16 game cup of coffee for the Red Wings during the 1971-1972 season before transitioning to the NHL full time the following year. Boucha has also suited up for the Minnesota North Stars, Kansas City Scouts and Colorado Rockies, before retiring during the 1976-77 season.
In 247 games he scored 53 goals and 102 points. Boucha's trademark was his headband, as it became an iconic symbol that people recognized him for.
The Minnesota native is a second-cousin of current National Hockey League forward and Stanley Cup Champion T.J. Oshie.
We send our condolences to Boucha's family and friends during this difficult time.
