Todd Woodcroft held several different positions with NHL teams, before joining the University of Vermont as the team's head coach. Now Woodcroft finds himself in hot water that could cost him his job. Yesterday it was officially announced that Woodcroft had been replaced by Assistant Coach Steve Wieldler, after Woodcroft was fired by the school.

The University issued this statement:
"The University of Vermont Athletic Department has high expectations for the conduct of our coaches and all involved with our department. After reviewing the findings of an investigation conducted by UVM's Office of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity that was completed this week, it is clear that Coach Woodcroft failed to meet those expectations. The specific conduct leading to the investigation involved inappropriate text messages with a UVM student on multiple occasions that failed to maintain professional boundaries.

The release did not reveal and of the contents of the messages, nor did it provide any information on the student involved.
Before being hired by UVM, Woodcroft worked for a few different NHL teams, including time as the Minnesota Wild's video coach and as a scout with the Minnesota Wild and Washington Capitals. Woodcroft also served as a scout in both Calgary and Los Angeles.
He was an assistant coach with the Winnipeg Jets before leaving the NHL in 2020.
