On Thursday morning, the Edmonton Oilers made a significant announcement, revealing that Jeff Jackson, the agent for Connor McDavid, was hired as the Edmonton Oilers' new CEO of Hockey Operations. As a result, the Oilers superstar will have a pair of new representatives effective immediately.

McDavid has chosen to resume his affiliation with Wasserman Hockey and will have Adam Phillips manage his endorsement deals, while his primary agent will be Judd Muldaver, who is also the agent of Maple Leafs superstar Auston Matthews.

McDavid did grow up a Leafs fan, but we can't be certain about what he is feeling at this point, let alone what he'll be thinking in 3 years. He has been on some dangerous runs with the Oilers in the postseason and has, on many occasions, stated his desire to remain in Edmonton.

We're certainly going to hear a lot of rumours over the next couple of seasons regarding what McDavid plans to do until such a time that he puts pen to paper on a long-term extension to finish his NHL career in Edmonton. If he doesn't sign an extension when he becomes eligible on July 1st, 2025 - a year ahead of when he's set to become a UFA on July 1st, 2026 - I'd imagine that the rumours are going to be endless and insufferable about a possible John Tavares situation, with McDavid "going home".
