BREAKING: Major Update Regarding Nolan Patrick's Retirement
An Instagram post last night sparked rumors about former top draft pick Nolan Patrick's potential retirement from the NHL. However, new reports today are changing the conversation.
The Instagram post from Powerplay Hockey, announcing Patrick's role as a skills coach in their hockey academy, initially hinted at a pseudo-retirement for Nolan Patrick. Today, Patrick himself clarified the situation, providing a path for him to remain unretired.
NHL insiders, including Elliotte Friedman, reached out to Patrick this afternoon to seek clarification on his retirement status. According to Friedman, Patrick stated that he is not officially retired at the moment.
Reached out to Patrick today, he politely declined to talk...but did text to say he has not officially retired. It's clear he prefers to stay under the radar.
As of now, Patrick remains an NHL player and a free agent. It appears he will continue working as a skills coach until he either secures a position with a team or makes an official decision regarding retirement.
