Another player announces retirement due to serious injury

This summer has been a never ending run of bad news for the hockey world. Unfortunately today another player was forced to announce the end of their career due to an injury. After missing the entirety of 2022/23 Carl Hagelin has made it official announcing today his career is over.

Hagelin took to his Instagram, to share he has decided to hang up the skates and call time on his NHL career. He was unable to play last season due to a serious eye injury.

It's been an amazing ride but it ends here. Unfortunately my eye injury is too severe to keep playing the gamel love. l'm extremely grateful for all the memories hockey has given me and I've loved every single day of it. I'm gonna miss going to battle w my teammates on a daily basis, I'm gonna miss the ups and downs of a season.

Nothing excites me more than stepping on the ice in front of 20,000 passionate fans.

I want to thank all my amazing teammates, coaches, Doctors and other staff members that l've met and played with throughout the years. Lastly, I want to thank my family, my wife and my kids for all their support. They made it possible for me to live out my dream.

Hagelin, 35, ends his 11-year NHL career having played in 713 games. Hagelin played for the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals, Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings. He scored 110 goals and added 186 assists for a total of 296 points.
