6 years after leaving NHL, former player returns signing professional tryout
If you rewind to March of 2022, after playing parts of seven seasons in the National Hockey League and 6 seasons of professional hockey outside of the NHL, former Anaheim Ducks first-round pick Peter Holland called an end to his career, deciding to retire.
But today, 17 months later, Holland is trying to return to hockey and according to CapFriendly, today he signed a professional try-out contract (PTO) with the Colorado Avalanche. Holland will join the Avs at training camp and pre-season games.
Holland, 32, last played in the NHL in the 2017-18 season. Holland played 23 games for the New York Rangers. He spent the next season in the AHL, before deciding to head overseas to play 2 seasons in the KHL and one in the Swedish Hockey League.
During his NHL career, Holland spent time witb the Anaheim Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Arizona Coyotes and New York Rangers, putting up 36 goals, 49 assists in 266 games.
Training camps begin in under a month and it will be very interesting to see where Holland stands at this point in his career. Does he still have it?
