Jake McCabe discusses close call after receiving slapshot to the face

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe had to leave Saturday's game prematurely after a slapshot struck him just below the eye. Speaking to the media today, McCabe expressed relief that the injury wasn't more severe.

McCabe has been a cornerstone of resilience for the Leafs this season, regularly sacrificing his body to block shots and propel the team towards victory. His commitment was on full display during Saturday's game against the Detroit Red Wings, showcasing his unyielding bravery in the face of flying pucks.

He described the incident as particularly frightening, given the puck's proximity to his left eye. Fortunately, he confirmed that the damage was minimal, requiring only a few stitches, and he's otherwise in good health.
