Without a doubt, the hardest trophy in all of professional sports to win is the Stanley Cup. To win the championship, one must endure up to 28 games and 16 exhausting victories. Nearly all of the players are nursing an ailment by the end of the season.
The forward for the Edmonton Oilers, Connor McDavid, was obviously struggling in the last two games of the season. It's now clear why McDavid lacked his typical explosiveness and shot-making force. Euler's Nation reports that McDavid needs to have abdominal surgery during the off-season to fix an issue.
Despite being able to stretch a game to the seventh, the Oilers were unable to advance due to the injuries. Additionally, it has been claimed that player Leon Draisaitl also sustained a broken finger and rib during game one against the Vancouver Canucks. It's likely that we'll hear more and more about this over the following several days, but it's obvious that the Oilers tried everything and left it all on the ice.
