Jim Rutherford Is Furious As Ethan Bear Turns His Back On Vancouver
It seems all indications are pointing towards defenseman Ethan Bear lacing up for the Washington Capitals once he's back on the ice, and this news hasn't exactly thrilled Vancouver Canucks President of Hockey Operations, Jim Rutherford.
Vancouver acquired Bear in a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes when he was receiving the healthy scratch treatment. In a recent interview, Rutherford expressed disappointment, mentioning the belief that Bear would return to the Canucks after recovering from his injury.
"We thought we were the frontrunners. At the end, things changed partly due to money. It is disappointing, but he has the right to choose where to play."
Rutherford also emphasized the Canucks' role in giving Bear an opportunity when it seemed like no one else would.
"We really thought he was coming back to the Canucks. We thought we were the front runners. Mentions no one really wanted him last season and they traded for him and helped him.
Didn't sound too happy.»
On the latest TSN's Insider Trading, Chris Johnston shared insights, stating that Bear is likely to sign a two-year contract with Washington, valued at $2 million per season.
