Today, the Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have signed young promising forward Owen Tippett to a 8 year, $49.6 million deal at $6.2 million AAV.
Tippett, 24, was a first round pick by the Florida Panthers in 2017 (10th overall). Owen, after not producing much on the Panthers, was shipped to Philadelphia in the trade that sent Claude Giroux to Florida. However, the Panthers may be regretting the trade, because Tippett has been a beautiful late bloomer.
Owen had a good 2023 season, with 49 points in 77 games played. He's really stepped it up this season, though, along with the rest of the Flyers, with 18 goals, 12 assists, and 30 points in 46 games.
This contract is very cap friendly considering his age and his production. The fact it has no NMC's is even better for Philly. This is a great deal.
