Trouba Breaks The Silence After Trying To Take Frederic's Head Off
New York Rangers' captain Jacob Trouba is addressing the recent controversy surrounding him after facing significant criticism over the weekend.
Trouba incurred a $5,000 fine from the NHL's Department of Player Safety for a stick incident involving Boston Bruins forward Trent Frederic. The controversy not only revolves around the act itself but also the perceived leniency of Trouba's punishment, a sentiment echoed by Ron MacLean and Kevin Bieksa.
In response, Trouba commendably assumed full responsibility on Monday, emphasizing that such incidents have no place in hockey or the NHL.
«It can't happen. Saw the video of it and it didn't look good Gotta control my stick better. Take the fine and move on.»
Trouba acknowledged, expressing the need to exercise better control over his stick and accepting the fine as a consequence. Despite some feeling Trouba got off lightly, his response suggests it was a momentary lapse of stick control rather than intentional malice, aligning with the NHL's decision to impose a fine.
