Montreal Canadiens Score A Very Bizarre Goal Confusing Everyone Watching
The final moments of the year delivered a spectacle in the NHL. Last Sunday night treated us to what could be the quirkiest goal of 2023, just hours before ringing in 2024.
During the Montreal Canadiens vs. Tampa Bay Lightning game at Amalie Arena, the peculiar goal unfolded midway through the second period. It occurred after what seemed like a play stoppage, but the officials hadn't blown the whistle.
Despite the confusion, Canadiens goaltender Samuel Montembeault seized the moment, urging his teammates to take advantage. They did, scoring an unusual empty-net goal in the midst of the second period.
