NHL Player Safety Hands Out Multi-Game Suspension To Dmitry Kulikov
Yesterday, the NHL's Department of Player Safety made it known that Dmitry Kulikov was on their radar for a recent incident. This came after Kulikov was sent off during a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning for a contentious hit on Conor Sheary, right in front of the Lightning's goal.
George Parros, today, confirmed that after review, Kulikov will face a two-game suspension for his actions.
"Florida's Dmitry Kulikov has been suspended for two games for an illegal check to the head on Tampa Bay's Conor Sheary.»
This decision has sparked a mix of opinions among fans, with some arguing the hit was fair play and others deeming it unacceptable.
The key question now is whether the NHL will apply a consistent standard in addressing such incidents moving forward, or if this decision by the Department of Player Safety is merely a one-time action.
