Dylan Larkin and the Detroit Red Wings have an interesting season ahead of them as they are looking to make it to the NHL playoffs.

First, they must make it though the preseason where they are giving plenty of young guys a chance. Subsequently, they have to actually go out there and perform during the regular season. It is easier said than done but it is going to be a lot of fun to watch.

Speaking of the preseason, the Detroit Red Wings played their biggest rivals, the Chicago Blackhawks last night. During the game, Blackhawks prospect AJ Spellacy went knee-on-knee with Lucas Raymond. However, it was a hit that didn't land as hard as it may have looked. Both players were fine, but when Spellacy came back around, Larkin took his head off with one of the most obvious head hunts you will ever see.

This immediately sparked some backlash as Blackhawks players rushed to the scene to deliver some punches and some spirited words. Thankfully, Spellacy was able to get up following the hit and seemed to be doing well. Regardless, Spellacy just got one of the wildest welcome-to-the-league moments you could ever imagine.

Spellacy likely won't make the Blackhawks roster this season, but he has shown promise. As for Larkin, he could be facing a suspension for his actions. However, it remains to be seen if that punishment will ever come. For now, fans are just upset that a rookie would get hit in such a deliberate and dangerous fashion.
