Last evening, during the middle mark of the second period, Ryan Reaves of the Toronto Maple Leafs took on Michael Pezzetta of the Montreal Canadiens which in turn was a quick fight as Reeves gained the upper hand and through Pezzetta to the ice. This led former Canadiens enforcer George Laracque to weigh in on the fight and how ineffective Reaves would be with one key player on Montreal's roster missing.

As Laracque discussed the enforcer role in the 21st century of the NHS, he went on to explain how Reeves has been quite ineffective with the Maple Leafs up until recently and that the Montreal Canadiens were missing enforcer Arber Xhekaj who may have turned the table on Reaves a second time.

For those who were wondering the importance of Xhekaj in the lineup, I hope you understand after yesterday's game against Toronto. Go watch the previous match between the 2 teams when Xhekaj played, Reaves was invisible, and yesterday he was driving everyone crazy! While the cat's away the mice will play!!!

Reaves is completing his first year of a three-year deal he signed with the Maple Leafs last summer and during his first half of the year he had not lived up to his contract. He was a constant liability on the back end and was responsible for many goals against even though he's a forward. He currently holds two more seasons at $1.35 million AAV and remains to be seen on how well he'll play in the playoffs and into next season.

Having a contract that large for an enforcer certainly puts a bigger microscope on your game and the rock explained why Reaves was playing harder in his first game of the year who happened to be against the Canadiens.

Just so you know, ill explain something to you plain and simple. When you play your first game in Toronto after signing a 3 year deal, in front of your fans, you play rival team like Montreal. You're supposed to be the #1 heavyweight in the NHL, when a guy makes you look bad in a fight, because Xhekaj did made him look bad, you go again, not the next game, the same game. Xhekaj has nothing to prove!

Both the Maple Leafs and the Canadiens have five games remaining and both are heading in different directions.
