Halak, 38, still hopes to sign another NHL contract ahead of training camps, which open next month. Last year, Halak had another good season as the backup for the New York Rangers. Halak posted a record of 10-9-5 with a .903 save percentage and 2.72 GAA. Halak made his debut during the 2006-07 season, and has played for seven teams winning the William M. Jennings trophy twice, once with the St. Louis Blues and once with the Boston Bruins.
Halak is 100 percent committed to playing next season but he isn't willing to accept a 3rd string role. The veteran goaltender has made it clear he doesn't want to take that route, and will continue looking to sign somewhere as a backup goaltender or will consider retirement.
